About Me
My name is Mark Damron. I live in Plain City, Ohio with my wife and two daughters. I am a member of the Central Ohio Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners.
For almost 30 years I have been a toolmaker in the automotive industry. I’ve always liked using my hands and being creative. Turning allows me to do both which I get much satisfaction from.
In the early nineties I started turning pens on a converted metal lathe and turned my first bowl in 95’. From that point my turning was limited due to the demands of work and raising a family. In 2003 I was commissioned to turn 2 large chess pieces for end tables. Only one problem, I did not possess a lathe large enough to turn them. Fortunately, I had a friend that did and was gracious enough to let me use it. Since then I have devoted much time and effort to honing my skills as a turner by purchasing a larger lathe, the necessary tools and training.
