About Me

Born and raised in Ohio, I currently live just outside of plain City, Ohio with my wife and two daughters. For more than thirty years now I’ve made a living in the automotive and now the medical industry as a toolmaker.

It all started over 20 years ago when a friend gave me a metal lathe which was in pieces. I restored the lathe and started turning small items like wood pens and key chains. After attempting my first bowl in 95" my turning time was limited due to work and raising a family.

In 2003 I returned to the lathe when challenged to turn two large chess pieces from wood. Only one problem, I didn’t have a lathe large enough to turn something 24" tall X 20" in diameter! Fortunately, I had a friend that did and was gracious enough to let me use it. I’ve always liked being creative and making things. Woodturning has allowed me to do both which I get much satisfaction doing. Since turning those chess pieces I have devoted much time and effort in honing my skills as a turner by purchasing a larger lathe, necessary tools and training.
